According to WGN 9, In what’s become a ritual in modern basketball, angry Miami Heat fans are burning their Dwayne Wade jerseys after the star announced he would be joining the Chicago Bulls next season.
Wade couldn’t get the money he wanted in Miami, so now he’s coming home to Chicago.
After failing to woo him in free agency six years ago, the Bulls shocked the NBA by working out a two-year deal worth $47.5 million.
Wade spent 13 seasons with the Heat, but they only offered him $40 million to stay.
The Bulls sent Mike Dunleavy to Cleveland and Jose Calderon to the Lakers to clear salary cap space.
Wade’s a 12-time All Star, three-time NBA champion and averaged 19 points a game last season, but he is 35 years old.
In a letter to the Associated Press, Wade said watching the Bulls growing up inspired him to play basketball, and he’s thankful to play for the team that fueled his love of the game.
