According to Wikipedia, BlackPlanet is an African-American social networking service for matchmaking and job postings; it also has forums for discussion on political and social issues. Other forums like Facebook and Instagram seems to control what you can do or say and generally silence minorities who speak on social issues.
Solange made the huge announcement on Twitter and Instagram which sent Black Twitter scrambling to find old passwords that have not been used in years for some people.
BlackPlanet which originally launched twenty years ago is about to make a serious comeback. She said, ““I was gonna release the Beatles cover on Valentine’s Day on Black Planet but couldn’t figure out how to work Black Planet” she then abruptly deleted the tweet.
According to Hello Beautiful,Solange is single-handedly reviving the OG social network that originally launched in 1999. Radio One (our parent company) acquired BP in 2008. According to people in Solange’s camp the Grammy-winning artist and fashion icon is in love with the nostalgia of BlackPlanet and wanted to collaborate last year, but it didn’t work out.
Solange said after the announcement, people are running back to the site trying to find her new album and tour dates.
Remember that project I told you I was working to bring to fruition for over a year, well this is it!
