Regardless of what you do in THIS life just know that money will always be a factor. EarHustle411 had the pleasure of attending a financial seminar on December 6, 2014 hosted by Alumnae chapters Delta Sigma (Chicago, IL) and Epsilon Nu Sigma (Matteson, IL) of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
The ladies of these chapters worked together to bring a powerful and much-needed workshop to the Chicago area that was opened to the public with registration. As the event was set to begin, the attendees were greeted by a soft-spoken woman who provided the guests with an overview of the guests of honor and the company they were affiliated with. Without delay, the room was introduced to none other than the Legendary MC Lyte and financial guru Lynn Richardson.
EarHustle411’s media correspondent SunShyne was there to capture the essence of the event as well as gaining some great financial knowledge. Lynn Richardson addressed the guests with the hard truth about money. She spoke in terms that made the entire room seriously think about what their next was o be regarding their finances. Although Lynn and MC Lyte made it abundantly clear that the purpose of the seminar was to share the information and principles to change a negative financial situation to a positive one as well as making a comfortable situation into a strong one.
Lynn’s transparency about her own personal struggles with her finances was a clear indication that just because a person made a substantial amount of money does not necessarily mean that they are financially sound. She made a statement that really brought the house down, she said:
“If your purse cost more than what you can keep in it on a regular basis, then you don’t need that purse or if you have $5000 rims on a $500 car, something is clearly wrong!!”
MC Lyte made herself to be an open book for the small but significant amount of time we were in her presence. While she has been an icon and role model for the ladies for many years, she was forthcoming with some of the obstacles she had to overcome and why she chose to live her life in the manner in which she does and why her foundation Hip Hop Sisters is just the platform she needed to fulfill a mission she had. With her having good people around her and helping her by allowing to do what they do and teaching her a few things along the way has been a great combination preordained by God all along.

The Money Building Coalition Seminar was by far the best workshop this team had been privy to attend, not to mention the information and realness of its delivery truly hit home to everyone in attendance. All it is not lost because the seminar may be coming to a town near you. Check out the Hip Hop Sisters Network Foundation for dates at www.hiphopsisters.org.
