Police issued an alert Sunday afternoon warning about a series of armed robberies that happened near the border of the Back of the Yards and Englewood neighborhoods.
The robberies were carried out by two to three young men. Police said the robbers approached the victims, pulled out a handgun and demanded the victims’ belongings.
The first robbery happened on Dec. 15 at about 6 p.m. on the 5200 block of South Justine Street. The robbers struck again on Dec. 18 at about 4:30 p.m. on the 5200 block of South Laflin Street. A third incident happened on Christmas Eve, about 12:20 a.m. on the 5200 block of South Ashland Avenue, said police.
The robbers were described as black men between the age of 17 to 30. They all have a medium complexion and dreadlocks. Police said they were between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weigh between 140 to 210 pounds.
