A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Tuesday night in the South Side Burnside neighborhood.

Devonte Carthan was riding a bicycle in the street about 11:30 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Dobson when a silver car drove up and someone inside fired a gun, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

Someone drove Carthan, who lived in the 13200 block of South Langley, to Trinity Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

A police source said the boy was a documented gang member.
