If you are in any of these fields and you did not attend, you missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime.

The Panels were very informative the workshops had multiple brilliant minds conducting them and the speed mentoring was priceless

The keynote speakers provided information that you would have to invest thousands of dollars to receive or to learn in school and they gave this information that many who have been in the industry for years have not learned yet.

Sunday, August 20, 2017, was day 2 of the Global Mixx Film and Music Forum, aspiring artists, actors/actresses and professionals in the industry came out to show their support of this amazing event now in its 11th year.

Informative panels like the image and fashion panel gave attendees insight on how important image and the structure of fashion can be to a career as well as can be a career within itself.  Black Ink Chicago’s tattoo artist extraordinaire Van Johnson and owner of ChicaGorilla Clothing offered his expertise and guidance to the attendees. He stated that after becoming a successful tattoo artist he decided to branch into another realm and the creation of ChicaGorilla Clothing was the next step in his quest to becoming the quintessential entrepreneur.

In lieu of performances, Global Mixx founder Mary Datcher added an artist critique session where aspiring Artists who attended the event had the opportunity to have their music critiqued by some of Chicago’s most notable producers like Blok Club DJs CEO DJ Slugo, SNS Chicago’s Steve “Silk” Hurley and Shannon “Skip” Syas, Sirius XM’s Foxxhole resident Mixologist/Producer Hugo H and even artist Ben One took advantage of the session as well as offered his critiquing expertise.

The History of Hip Hop panel featuring Khris First Lady Hutchinson and Ang13 focused on the state of the music coming out of Chicago and how things are certainly changing for artists from Chicago.  While Chance The Rapper is currently at the forefront of people’s minds with the accolades he’s been receiving as well as the fact he has made significant success as an independent artist.  The session got a bit heated for a moment when the subject came up that most artists from Chicago have actually left the city before they actually “made it” but however true that may have been in the past the panel made it clear that “times are changing” and people can thank the evolving of technology for that.

Lastly, the keynote speaker of the event was Chicago’s very own Twista. Mary Datcher and Twista had an intimate conversation about his life, career and his legacy as one of Chicago’s most notable successes to rise out of the city musically. One interesting fact about Twista they discussed was even though he was a very successful artist and had been sought by and worked with many artists from Chicago such as Kanye West, Do or Die, the late Johnny P and R. Kelly, he never left Chicago.

Twista originally known as TungTwista dropped the Tung and kept Twista because it just made sense, explained how his style of rap came about and made it clear that he means no disrespect to other artists whose style of rap is “similar” to his, he relishes in the fact that he was the first to ever do it.

At the end of the day the GlobalMixx Film and Music Forum did not disappoint those who were taking their aspirations and careers into their own hands seriously.  Knowledge is POWER!!

EarHustle411 thanks Mary Datcher, Erica Porter and the GlobalMixx staff for their hospitality yet again for allowing us to be media partners in the event as it enters its 11th year. Special shout out to Chef Tyler who kept everyone’s stomachs full with the delicious food they provided.  Mostly, the residents of Chicago has a definite gem embedded in this event.
