Police are searching for a murder suspect wanted in the killing of a 71-year old man – a man whose only mistake, it seems, was to answer his door Sunday morning.
Authorities say Fredell Bryant woke up to answer the door of his Back of the Yard bungalow near 52nd and Green around 6 a.m. Sunday.
When he opened it, someone fired two shots into his chest.
Bryant was remembered by neighbors as a retired construction worker who loved baseball, and was always quick with a joke.
Bryant had lived in his home on Green Street for more than three decades.
He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital this morning, shortly after he arrived. Police say the investigation continues.
