Two topless women promoting gender equality got busted outside a Bernie Sanders rally in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
Tiernan Hebron, 22, and Anni Ma, 25, had small pieces of tape emblazoned with the slogan “Free the Nipple” partially covering their breasts when police cuffed them after they declined to don shirts outside the Wiltern Theatre.
Hebron also had “Feel the Bern!” written on her chest in blue body paint.
“They were out there topless,” Lt. Marco Munoz with the LAPD told the Daily News Thursday. “They were asked several times to cover up and they refused, so they were arrested.”
According to jail records, the women were arrested at 6:30 p.m. and were still being held early Thursday on $10,000 bail.
It wasn’t the first time Hebron has undressed for the cause. She’s an organizer for the Free the Nipple campaign and previously walked topless down Hollywood Boulevard to promote the right of women to go topless anywhere men are allowed to.
Inside the Wiltern on Wednesday, actress Rosario Dawson introduced Democratic presidential candidate Sanders as his faithful fans cheered.
At least one supporter toted a sign critical of Donald Trump and the violence that has marred his campaign events.
“I Didn’t Beat Up a Trump Supporter 4 Bernie,” read the sign carried by Haley Sills of Malibu, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
