Here we are Househeads!! Day 3 of the countdown to the Chosen Few Picnic and as we get closer to the big day we are getting to know the guest DJs. Up next is DJ Torin Edmond, truthfully speaking I know of the name but I was not well versed on his skills as a DJ, however my research skills have never failed me.
DJ Torin Edmond like most of us were influenced by House music scene and he got bit by the bug and began to DJ in the early 80s. If asked Torin would say in the early days, “I was definitely influenced by DJ’s and Producers like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Lil Louis and Steve “Silk” Hurley.”
In 1992, Torin accepted a rare opportunity to work with one of his influences, Steve “Silk” Hurley a collaboration that would prove to be successful. DJ Torin Edmond has made a name for himself as one of the most talented DJs and ultimately made the transition to producer and remixer under Hurley’s tutelage. Torin has produced a remix for DJ Torin Edmond has made a name for himself as one of the most talented producers and a very humbled DJ. He has produced a remix for Janet Jackson in the mid 90s and looks forward to producing remixes for other artists. He has loaned his talents to several Chicagoland events one most recently being the birthday celebration of Chosen Few DJ Alan King.
I cannot say if being picked to grace the Chosen Few Picnic stage is Torin’s finest accomplishment but I can say that if he isn’t a household name by now, this event is surely to succeed in making that happen. Even though I don’t know Torin personally, I am proud that this young man is making moves and setting a standard for others to follow just as he followed those who came before him.
Congratulations to DJ Torin Edmond (my brother in Greekdom…I see you with your hooks up!!) on your accomplishments and I as well as the Earhustle411 family will be grooving to your sounds on July 5th. Make sure you stop by our tent and take a photo with us!!
