Nothing Compares To Her: Sinead O’Connor transforms her look in black wig and PVC outfit to announce brand new album
She likes to shock and Sinead O’Connor has done just that with a sexy new look to mark the launch of her 10th album, I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss.
Wearing a blunt black bobbed wig, the Irish singer, 47, looks worlds apart from her usual shaven headed image and she stands out in a racy PVC ensemble.
The black polo-neck number has a floral lace pattern across the chest and Sinead sports dramatic rock star smoky eyes and a dark grey manicure as she cradles an electric guitar.
Inspired by the Ban Bossy campaign, which has been backed by the likes of Beyonce and calls for people to stop using the word ‘bossy’ to describe a successful female, the singer renamed the album.
Sinead explained the title change on her official website, writing: ‘Just a note to explain the title of my forthcoming album IS taken from [Facebook COO’s] Sheryl Sandberg’s Ban Bossy campaign.
‘A few months back when I saw the phrase ‘I’m not bossy, I’m the boss’ and became aware of the Ban Bossy campaign, I wished I could re-name the album.
‘Indeed it can be tricky being a female boss and I think Sheryl’s campaign is a terribly important one.’
O’Connor thought it was too late to change the album title because the sleeve was already in print.
But last week the singer’s record company asked her to change the cover, which gave her the chance to change the title. The star added: ‘Very happy girl.’
The singer will release the lead single on the album, Take Me To The Church on the same day as her album release on August 11 via Nettwork records.
She will also perform at London’s Roundhouse on August 12.
