Police are questioning a man and a woman after someone fired as many as nine shots on the Dan Ryan Expressway after a possible road rage incident, police said.
About 10:20 p.m. Sunday, someone started shooting at another vehicle near 63rd Street in the expressway’s local southbound lanes, authorities said.
There were unconfirmed reports that two to nine shots were fired, lllinois State Police Trooper Jan Sieczka said.
The vehicle that was targeted struck another vehicle but no injuries were reported, either from the bullets or the crash, Sieczka said.
Chicago police took into custody the driver of vehicle where the shots were fired from, Sieczka said. A woman inside the vehicle was also taken into custody.
Police recovered a weapon from the pair’s vehicle and were trying to determine who had fired it, according to Sieczka.
Police were also investigating whether a road rage incident may have preceded the shooting.
