I wished the readers could see the excitement on my face as this post is near and dear to my heart. Being a major fan of old school hip hop, I have always had a fascination with female MCs. Female MCs have a way of taking command of the stage with such finesse and captivating their audience from beginning to end.
It gives me great pleasure to write about someone who is not only an exceptional woman, I am also huge fan of hers and she is also a member of my greek family with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. That’s right…I’m speaking of none other than MC Lyte. Lyte as she is affectionately called by those close to her has been in the business for well over 20 years and has been consistent with releasing tracks and keeping her fans well stocked with great music.
With Lyte having an extremely busy life, from doing voiceover work, acting, promoting her book “Unstoppable” and her position as the sorority’s Project Reassurance Ambassador to maintaining her very successful foundation the Hip Hop Sisters Network, for MC Lyte to find the time to get in the studio and record I am sure was not an easy task.
Check out the exclusive video for “Ball” featuring Lil Mama & AV:
“Ball” released on the heels of her track “Dear John” featuring Common is most certain to be a smash as well. Longtime fans of MC Lyte are very excited for her and are so proud of her being able to stay stable as well as relevent in an industry dominated by men.
EarHustle411 extends kudos to you MC Lyte for ensuring that the “paved” way remains open for women to excel and have their voices heard.
