Anyone who grew up in the 90s came up in a decade when the music shift was prominent as well as solidified groups in a time, place and space to be revered for many years to come. Legends Fest 2017 took everyone into the wayback machine and the ride was wild!! For example Crucial Conflict made the primarily sold out show “giddyup, giddyup, giddy up now” when we took a ride on the Rodeo. While Do or Die asked the crowd “do you wanna riiiide in the backseat of a caddy and chop it up with Do or Die” (Rest In Power Johnny P)

Them Boys 112 they’re from the “A” paid mad homage to the ladies with a dope rendition of Peaches & Cream.  Every lady in the place raise their hands in the air representing their…(oops this is a family friendly review…😂)…looks like 112 still has got the moves down and the vocals were on point.

The 90s gave way to many groups that had an impact on the industry such as Jodeci, Guy, Toni Braxton, 50 Cent and G-Unit which was a project of 50 Cent.  They hit the stage with such force and tenacity, the crowd was so hyped up when Lloyd Banks came out they could hardly contain themselves.  G,G,G-Unit still has got the goods on the rap game and they gave a great performance!!

Long before Moesha captured the hearts of with her teenage shenanigans, Brandy had burst on the scene in the 90s and immediately won over the hearts of music lovers across the country.  This humble young lady hit the stage and belted out some of her classics like I Wanna Be Down, Baby, Baby, Baby and the heart wrenching tune Almost Doesn’t Count.

Coming straight from the 60644, Da Brat took us on a “funkadified” ride with her hits that got us bent and made our necks snap back.  The ChiTown native was candid about her legal troubles, and paid homage to the Ladies of Hip Hop that came before her, showed love to her make up artist Sheena Marie, Hip Hop new comer and the Rap Game’s NiaKay.  The only thing missing was a clone of Tyrese when Da Brat performed the hit song “What’chu Like”.

The 90s princess of R&B Monica hit the stage sporting a fresh and fly platinum blonde hairdo, while her background singers belted out “Just One Of Dem Days”.  Monica got real with the crowd and had a little “girl talk” with the ladies in the crowd and share the trials of being in a relationship and just going through life.  Monica has always “wow’d” the audience when she performs.  She’s definitely a fighter, the ladies can take a lesson from Monica’s testimony.  Nothing can stop her she’s all the way up!!

Last performance of the night and the headliner of Legends Fest 2017 was none other than Busta Rhymes and his Flipmode Squad sidekick Spliff Starr.  The beat was banging and Spliff Starr got the crowd hyped up for Busta as he slowly made his way to the stage and the crowd rose to their feet and gave Busta his legends respect due.  Don’t this hit make my people wanna jump, jump…yes Busta Bus..it surely did!!

The concert was well worth the money, the line up was hella good and the DJs of RawTV Radio DJ Slugo and KCeaser killed it on the 1s and 2s with hyping up the crowd in between acts.   We are looking forward to a Legends Fest 2018 and we’d like to see more of the ChiTown artists on deck like Shawwna, Rhymefest, Common and maybe even an Infamous Syndicate reunion. Legends Fest 2017 powered by The Alliance Corp & HEX Group is one for the record books!!

EarHustle411 will be right there in the front row to capture the pure essence of it all!! WE LOVE THE 90s!!
