Kordell Stewart explained why he filed for divorce from “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Stewart, and he denied it has anything to do with a sexual preference for men.
“I promise you on my life in everything that I’m part of, including my son and my father who’s no longer here, that that has never happened nor will anything ever come up, ever come up, with no dude about me and nothing,” Kordell emphatically told DJ Ryan Cameron.
Porsha wanted to know the reasons why Kordell filed for divorce in the season 6 premiere of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and he blamed her absence in the household and failure to fulfill her duties as woman of the house as his primary motivation.
According to Kordell, Porsha was staying out ‘til 3 or 4 in the morning at times, and his son, from a previous relationship, would repeatedly ask when his [step]mom would be home.
“When my son asked me these few times, I have to figure out how do I make him understand what’s going on. He doesn’t deserve to have to deal with that when there are two parents at home. If anything, we should be eating dinner together, finding a way to get it done or making sure that when the kid goes to bed that you go in there and check on the kid. Kiss him goodnight, even if it’s three in the morning,” said Kordell.
Instead of being at home for dinners and family time, Kordell said Porsha embraced her independence and responded with attitude, telling him that she was an adult who could come and go as she pleased. That didn’t sit too well with him.
“I ain’t never had this gangsta talk to me from my woman before from the standpoint of you’re doing your thing, but it’s supposed to be about the household,” he said. “When you come out of your mouth and show that type of disrespect, you don’t know how much that burned me up inside.”
Kordell said he didn’t want to file for divorce and suggested that Porsha asked to end the marriage.
“When your wife look you in your face and tell you to file for divorce and the only reason she’s not filing is because she don’t have the money and she don’t have nothing to lose…are you kidding me?” he said.
Though things seemingly became worse between the two once Porsha signed on for “RHOA,” Kordell said there were problems before the Bravo show. He complained that Porsha refused to allow his son to have a birthday party at the house, even though she regularly allowed her nieces, nephews and other family members to enjoy the property.
“What really was the straw that broke the camels back was when my son couldn’t have his birthday party at his house,” he said.
Although the two have gone their separate ways, Kordell admitted he still has love for Porsha.
“I have love in my heart for what I remembered about Porsha. I love her so much that where she is, she’s going to stay,” he said. “She’s not coming back over here. There’s nothing here for her to get or I want at all.”
