Italian courts have ruled that a human beings basic rights to survival is more important than property. They have now ruled that stealing when you are hungry and homeless is no longer a crime.
The courts have just overturned a homeless man’s 2011 conviction for the theft of food, arguing that he had the right to survive which prevails over someone else’s property.
It took a three- part trial over 5 years to find this man not guilty.
