NeNe Leakes wanted a raise from Bravo to return to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and deal with the negativity that often comes along with reality TV stardom, but the network has reportedly cut her salary.
NeNe, who is the only original RHOA cast member left, had some doubts about returning because of the season 6 drama and the altercation between her cast mates, Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore, during the reunion. NeNe also lost a friend in co-star Cynthia Bailey who felt NeNe’s apology for calling Cynthia’s husband a b!tc# wasn’t genuine.
Though NeNe wanted more compensation to deal with the drama, rumors suggest NeNe’s financial demands haven’t been met and the Zumanity guest star may not be coming back as a result.
According to RumorFix, a source reported that Bravo reduced her pay to half, which is $500,000, for part time. It seems that her salary was cut because scenes with her and her husband, Gregg Leakes, had the lowest ratings out of all the “RHOA” storylines.
That half million would put NeNe’s salary below that of Kandi Burruss, whose wedding special is earning higher ratings than NeNe’s.
Some may find it ironic that NeNe’s life with Gregg is reportedly not as interesting as her co-stars’ lives since NeNe told “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen that it was former BFF Cynthia whose life wasn’t appealing to viewers.
“Cynthia is…I think everybody knows. I think Cynthia is okay. It’s not like she’s really bringing anything to the show. To be honest, she talks about The Baily Agency and BarOne. It’s not like they’re really talking about anything,” NeNe said.
S2Smagazine.com users seem to agree with Bravo. In an online poll, Kenya was voted as the person most viewers wanted to see leave the show, but NeNe ranked No. 2. Kandi collected the least number of votes.
