The supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Viola Onwuliri who gave the hint Monday also demanded an apology from the Indian Government over the recent attack on Nigerians in that country.

Nigerians in Goa state recently protested the killing of one Obodo Uzoma Simeon.

Following the demonstration which blocked Goa’s main high way for several hour, Goa’s chief administrator Manohar Parrikar asked Police to track down Nigerians living illegally in the former Portugese colony so that they could be deported.

Reacting on the development, the minister in a pre-Common wealth Head of Government (CHOGM) scheduled to hold in Colombo, Sri Lanka told journalists, “the growing violence around the world should be a thing of worry to member states and for us in Nigeria we have continued to condemn violence especially against Nigerians in different states.

“The recent one in India is really a big one to worry about and I have summoned the acting head of mission of India to admonish him on what has happened to our citizens in India. The young man was coming back from launch and it was a clash between two drug communities, he was not part of them but he went in for it. We have also asked for unreserved apology from India, we have asked them to ensure that investigations are carried out so that the perpetrators of that act will be brought to book.

“We have also heard that some of our citizens protested and were arrested. While we are not supporting unruliness and lawlessness but if Nigerians reacted because of extreme provocations it should be …and this Nigerians should be released and people should not be evicted from their homes, otherwise that will also be a strain in the relations between the two countries and we will be forced to also react appropriately”.
