One crash involving about 75 vehicles, including tractor-trailers, occurred at about 8 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between Willow Grove and the Route 1 exits in Bensalem, CBS Philadelphia reported.
A second crash, near the Route 1 exit, involved about thirty vehicles.
“We just started seeing a lot of minor accidents, a lot of cars trying to brake but they couldn’t brake in time,” Jeremy Haas of SkyForce10 told NBC Philadelphia.
At least 25 injuries were reported. None were serious, Dr. John Kelly, chief of staff at Abington Memorial Hospital, told CBS Philly.
People were getting out of their cars and walking along the shut-down section of the road, according to WPVI.
