Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born January 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. She started her music career at the young age of 10 and at age 12 signed with Jive Records. Aaliyah released her first album “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” with producer R. Kelly and it went certified double platinum.

Aaliyah released her second album “One In A Million” with producer Timbaland. While still into music she decided to expand her resume and starred in movies such as “Romeo Must Die“, “Queen Of The Damned” and was set to be in the hit trilogy “The Matrix“.

Aaliyah releases her third album “Aaliyah” to rave reviews. On August 25, 2001 the young singer was killed in a plane crash after filming a video for her hit song “Rock The Boat“.

The world is still mourning the lost of this heaven bound angel who is now looking over us from above. If you look at the artist today you can see the mark that Aaliyah left on the world. Songstress Arika Kane recorded a tribute to Aailyah by singing “Rock The Boat“. This is one of the best rerecording of this song that we have heard. Check it out below.
