MISSISSAUGA, Canada — Former NHL player Steve Montador was found dead in his Ontario home Sunday morning, according to multiple reports.
Mississauga.com reports a female friend woke up to find Montador deceased, according to local police. Montador was pronounced dead just after 2:30 a.m. at his home.
He was 35 years old.
Montador played 10 seasons in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks.
He also played for the Rockford IceHogs in 2013 before the Blackhawks bought out his contract.
A few of his former teams and fellow players offered their condolences on Twitter following his passing Sunday.
According to multiple reports, police do not suspect foul play.
