A police chase that started in north suburban Highland Park ended in a crash in the Great Lakes Naval Station late Thursday.
About 11 p.m., the driver of a black Toyota Camry drove through the station’s main gate “at a high rate of speed” while trying to evade Lake Bluff police, according to a statement from the naval station.
Security at the naval station shot at the car four times trying to disable it, but could not, the statement said. Eventually, two Navy security vehicles set up a barrier that the driver of the Camry crashed into.
The driver was taken to Lake Forest Hospital. No other injuries were reported.
