Nashville Tennessee’s Mayor Megan Barry Loses Her 22-Year Old Only Child To A Drug Overdose

As sad as this next story is, it just proves that the ugliness of drug addiction has no preference of whom it destroys.  It’s not a race, color or even class thing.

The Nashville mayor is dealing with an unthinkable tragedy in her own personal house as her only son has succumbed to a drug overdose.

The fact of the matter is we as parents and humans have to learn to not be so consumed with distractions of the job among other things or we will lose sight of our children, families and things that are important.

Nashville Mayor Megan Barry says her only child has died of an apparent drug overdose.
A statement released Sunday from Barry and her husband, Bruce, says 22-year-old Max Barry died Saturday night in Denver.

Max Barry graduated in June from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

The statement says the couple “cannot begin to describe the pain and heartbreak that comes with losing our only child.”

It adds that the family is asking for privacy “as we mourn the loss of our child and begin to understand a world without his laughter and love in our lives.”
