Dallas police arrested a man found hiding inside a dead woman’s apartment Wednesday morning.

Police said officers were called out to the Woodglen Park Apartments in the 6800 block of Cockrell Hill Road around 7:30 a.m. for a welfare check.

They found 65-year-old Onkuli Morris’ body on the bathroom floor wrapped in a comforter. She had signs of blunt force trauma.

The officers then found Melik Smith hiding in a closet. There was a pile of bloody clothing in the same room, police said.

FOX 4 News crews at the complex saw officers dragging Smith out of the complex. He has been charged with murder.

Police have not said if or how Smith is related to Morris. An arrest warrant says he lives with her.

Neighbors told FOX 4 the woman who lived in the apartment lived there with her adult son.
