CHICAGO — Traffic is moving again after protesters shut down Congress and LaSalle Tuesday morning.
The protesters were calling for the dismantling of ICE, or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The hashtag #stoptheraids was trending on Twitter in Chicago during the protest.
Initial reports indicate that about 100 people were gathered for the protest. Several people were sitting or laying down in the street, chained together. Officials on the scene had to break the chains to make arrests.
Chicago police have yet to confirm the number of arrests, but SkyCam9 captured several protesters being handcuffed and taken into custody.
