Now that the premiere of Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le has premiered on the Lifetime Television Network, it seems like there’s more to the story and something else is missing. After the huge success of Straight Outta Compton which did not make any mention of the R&B singer. EarHustle411 along with the entire television viewing public watched the biopic. Previous rumors and reports has been circulating for a few years about the alleged abuse Michel’le sustained at the hands of Andre “Dr. Dre” Young whom is emphatically denying that he had ever put his hands on her. Subsequently Michel’le entered into an interesting and also volatile relationship with Suge Knight which we can gather was not all peaches and cream. It’s no secret that Dr. Dre had a temper and had been in hot water for assault & battery after pounding on former Pump It Up host Dee Barnes in 1991.
Aside from the obvious shock factor in the biopic, the cast was decent. Rhyon Nicole Brown most famous for her role on the hit show Lincoln Heights did a good job playing Michel’le. The rest of the cast was pretty cool but Jamie Kennedy who played Jerry Heller was different twist on his involvement with NWA totally different from the movie. He seemed to be a confidant to Michel’le during her success and trials with the group.
Michel’le shared the other side of the popping bottles, state of the art studio , video sets and tumultuous relationships and unfortunately Michel’le’s recount of the events of her life made her look as if she was bitter for not being included in the blockbuster film. EarHustle411 wants you to be the judge, what are your thoughts on the Surviving Compton biopic? Did it fill in the gaps you felt were left out of Straight Outta Compton, does it paint a different picture of Dr. Dre for you? Although the biopic showed great detail of Michel’le’s abusive encounters, we cannot forget or discount her contribution to NWA and their success and her strange relationship with Suge Knight…well it is what it is .
EarHustle411 wants to know because we believe there are 3 sides to every story…right!!
