A woman was shot by a man who robbed a bank in southwest suburban Bolingbrook Monday.

Police responded to the First Midwest Bank at 450 N. Bolingbrook Rd. about noon, said Lt. Mike Rompa of the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Police were told a female employee of the bank had been shot in the arm, he said. The suspect ran away and police are still searching for him, Rompa said.

The victim was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Rompa said. Her condition is not known.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds, according to the FBI. He was wearing a mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, red baseball hat and black bandanna with white markings, Rompa said.

Just across the street, at 134 E. Boughton Rd., a Portillo’s restaurant was locked down for about an hour, an employee said. No one was allowed to leave or enter.

The FBI is now handling the investigation, Rompa said
