Tulsa, OK- Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma have Fatally shot an unarmed black man by the name of Terrence Crutcher. In the video, you can hear an officer referred to him as a bad man without any previous knowledge of who this man is. Apparently just being black is enough to make you a bad person based on this officers response.
The gentleman’s car stalled in the middle of the road and he was standing on the side of the road awaiting help but apparently, the cops had other plans for this man.
Protesters took to the streets demanding an immediate arrest of the officer who is currently on paid administrative leave since the shooting. They are asking for police reforms in the wake of all the unarmed citizens across the nation who are being killed.
The ACLU is calling for immediate criminal charges to be filed against the offer for shooting Crutcher and also stated he was left on the ground to bleed to death without administering any aid or assistance.
According to ABC News,
ACLU of Oklahoma Executive Director Ryan Kiesel says Terence Crutcher’s death on Friday shows “how little regard” Tulsa police officers have for minority communities.
Crutcher was shot to death by a Tulsa officer who was responding to a report of a stalled vehicle. Dashcam and aerial footage released Monday by police showed Crutcher lying on the street, bleeding, and no one immediately administered medical aid.
A Tulsa police spokeswoman, Jeanne MacKenzie, said she couldn’t comment Monday on whether officers have a set protocol on when to provide medical assistance.
The police dash cam clearly shows Crutcher walking away from the police with both hands extended in the air and he was not a threat to the officers. He then lowered his both his hands and placed them on top of the vehicle.
The officers then blocked the dashcam by aligning their bodies around him making it rather difficult to see the dashboard camera. You then hear one of the cops saying shots fired.
You can then see Crutcher falling to the ground where he remained with no treatment until he died.
A federal prosecutor says the U.S. Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man by a white Tulsa, Oklahoma, officer.
