Fred Hoiberg is a former NBA guard who spent four seasons with the Bulls during his 10-year playing career. Since taking the Iowa State job in 2010, he’s gone 115-56 (.673) and made the NCAA tournament in four straight seasons.
The 42-year-old coach brings an intriguing offensive approach to the table. His Cyclones teams focused heavily on outside shooting and post play while taking very few mid-range shots. They also played almost exclusively at a quick tempo.
If Hoiberg doesn’t want to make the move, the Bulls will have to cast a wider net. There isn’t an obvious second option at the outset.
