According to EurWeb, ”Spider-Man 3” actress La Rivers is suing a Manhattan nightclub owner for brutally attacking her over a cab. Page Six reports that Rivers is suing Edward Moffett, manager of Beautique, an ultra-glam millionaire restaurant and nightclub. In the lawsuit, filed at the Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday, she claimed that the manager was drunk and allegedly knocked her to the ground over a cab. The incident left her with a broken nose.
In a press conference held outside of the supreme court, the actress expressed, “I was assaulted, knocked unconscious and bloodied. Worse than that, I had my sense of safety and security taken away from me.”
Rivers’ attorney, Gloria Allred, stated that her client had very little to drink that night – only two glasses of wine while at Beautique as her father was visiting from out-of-town. She added that Rivers was sober when she arrived and left the club.
“I went to Beautique thinking that it was the perfect place to end our fantastic evening, showing my father a nice time at a luxurious and chic place surrounded by the beauty of midtown Manhattan,” Rivers said at news conference with Allred. “Instead, it turned out to be a living nightmare.”
This is not Moffett’s first time unleashing a physical assault on someone. According to reports, back in 2010, the Brooklyn native pleaded guilty to an assault charge followed by a 2011 aggravated harassment charge.
La Rivers, whose credits also include “Sex and the City” and “Law & Order,” is taking action against both the nightclub and Moffett for unspecified damages. Moffett faces criminal assault and harassment charges.
