South Side Chicago Woman Charged With Stabbing Of Andre Brown

Murder in Evanston

A woman has been charged with stabbing a man with north suburban connections to death early Monday on the South Side.

Veronica Wilson, 48, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 46-year-old Andrew Brown, according to Chicago Police.

Brown was found unresponsive on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of East Cheltenham Place about 12:20 a.m., authorities said.

Brown, who may have stayed in Evanston’s transitionary shelter on the 1400 block of Chicago Ave. according to identification found on his body, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:49 a.m., authorities said.

An Evanston police official said Brown most recently had been living on Chicago’s South Side.

Authorities initially thought he had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. However, an autopsy Monday found Brown died of multiple stab and incise wounds, and ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police did not provide a motive for the murder.

Wilson, of the 7800 block of South Shore Drive, is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.
