Sandra Bland Is Laid To Rest While The Investigation Still Continues

On July 25, 2015, the air and sky was clear however the atmosphere at the DuPage AME Church in Lisle, IL where Sandra Bland’s homegoing services took place was peaceful and filled with tears of hurt and love.  Amid all of the reports positive or negative regarding this case, Sandra was on point about one thing; her voice will be heard.  Her physical body may not be with us any longer but the cries she had about the issues that plague the African-American people are louder than she could ever scream.  It’s disheartening that it took for the breath to be taken out of Sandra’s body for people to “get angry” about the injustices happening to the African-American people.

Quite a few of Sandra’s sisters by way of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. showed their support in attendance at the services and the Central Region representative Tiffany Hightower passionately stated

“Her commitment to civil responsibility was unrivalled,”.  ~ Tiffany Hightower (Sigma Gamma Rho Central Region Officer)

No one could dispute that at all as Sandra was quite vocal and passionate about the disadvantages of African-Americans.  Tiffany Hightower added more to her recollections about Sandra and said Sandra Bland had been committed in working to “shift the paradigm [on how] African-Americans were viewed” in the US.

We could not have said it better ourselves, history has shown that those who are not afraid to stand up and be heard have often found themselves to be martyred.  Their passionate convictions for equality and justice will never be forgotten and it is so very unfortunate that this young lady who was on the path to greatness and her life was seriously about to change.  We will never see what she would have become or who’s life she would have affected with her presence.  What we do know is that she is now with God and her voice is still ringing loud and clear as her hashtag to her videos read: #SandySpeaks.

EarHustle411 sends our condolences to the family, her sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and to those who ma not have known her personally but cared enough to speak up in support.

RIP Sandra
