Sad News!!! Chicago Stepper Legend Shorty Ed Passed Away

Shorty Ed Chicago Stepper

Steppers throughout Chicago are mourning the loss of Stepping great Edward Shief, known to Steppers as Shorty Ed, who passed away from liver complications this past Sunday.

His long time Stepping contest partner Damita Brown acknowledges, “Ed was always the life of the party.”

Many of ChiStepper’s readers from out-of-town might be unfamiliar with Shorty Ed, but it is not by chance that we consider him a Steppin legend.  Having battled against fierce competition like Casper and Cleo, Ty Skippy and Celeste, James Harris, Cubby, and so many other Freestyle legends, Shorty Ed and Damita Brown placed first in the Freestyle Category of the World’s Largest Steppers Contest 3 times (1996, 1997, 1999).  Shorty Ed placed second in the World’s Largest Steppers Contest in 1998.

Shorty Ed and his partner Damita were featured on Fox News, Channel 7, and Stepping At Club 7, and received write ups in The Chicago Defender and South Suburban Newspaper.
