GREENVILLE, SC. — The mother of Reverend Jesse Jackson has died, according to his posts on his twitter page.
Helen Burns Jackson had been in hospice care for the past few weeks after years of declining health.
Rev. Jackson tweeted Monday, “My loving mother MrsHelenJackson has made her transition to be with God.”
She spent most of her life in Greenville, South Carolina, where she gave birth to Jackson when she was 16.
She stayed largely out of the public eye, despite her son’s rising fame as a Civil Rights leader.
