Martin’s supervisor Regina Todd said he went into her office and started screaming racial slurs at her before he punched her and hit her with a chair.

“It was really scary. I thought he was going to kill me,” Todd said. “I feel horrible because all I do is try to do my job.”

Todd said she has been working at the post office for the past 36 years and now works as a manager of distribution operations. She was working Saturday when Marin attacked her on the job.

“Next thing I knew he was in my face and called me “explicit” I’m tired of you “explicit” with me, and next thing I know, he hit me and knocked me out of my chair,” Todd said. “While I’m laying on the floor, he went to throwing different objects at me and picked up my chair and threw it at me.”

No one was home at Martin’s listed address Monday for a comment.

“He should be fired and prosecuted,” Todd said.

Todd said Martin does not report directly to her and she is not sure why he attacked her.

“I know people don’t like you sometimes because they don’t like you enforcing the rules, but that’s my job,” she said.

Todd remembered one other time Martin got angry on the job.

“Once before he got mad about an assignment and he walked off the job and we didn’t pay him.”

According to the police report, Martin blames Todd for him being absent without leave and he faced consequences. The plant manager said Martin was believed to have a mental disorder, but he returned to work after being cleared by an evaluation.

“It bothers me because people with a mental issue you never know–any little thing may set them off,” Todd said.

Todd said she will be off work for a few days while she recovers.

The postal service said they have no workplace violence history with the suspect or victim
