A police officer’s kind gesture to a woman struggling to complete a 10K race has gone viral and made both the officer and the woman famous.
Asia Ford was the last person finishing the Rodes City Run held in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday. Ford, who WHAS11 in Louisville reports has struggled with her weight most of her life, did well for the first four miles of the race, but then began to feel sick.
That’s when Louisville Metro police officer Lt. Aubrey Gregory drove up.
“I’m not going to let her quit, so I got out and she immediately grabbed my hand,”Gregory told WHAS11 News.
“He asked me if I wanted to stop and I was like, ‘No, we have two more miles to go,'” she remembered.
Gregory walked, hand in hand, with Ford the remainder of the race. Bystanders caught the touching moments on camera and began sharing them.
