Phylicia Rashad and Raven-Symoné Set to play gay characters on TV

gendary ladies of The Cosby Show Phylicia Rashad and Raven-Symoné are both set to play lesbian characters on TV series.  In addition to appearing on FOX’s Empire, Raven-Symoné will soon guest star on ABC’s Black-ish as Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) gay sister Rhonda, who is not yet comfortable discussing her sexuality.  According to Variety, Rashad will star as a lesbian FBI agent, Georgina Howe, in the pilot for the new CBS drama For Justice.  The series, set to be directed by Ava DuVernay, will follow Georgina as she works in the criminal section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and struggles to find the balance between tending to her radical real family and her professional family.
