You go about your day on your phone. Texting, tweeting, checking emails, playing games, updating your social media pages, among other activities and then all of a sudden the afternoon/early evening passes by and your battery is surprisingly at a low percentage. You’ve even installed a battery saver app and yet that has not much impact. The answer might be in one of the apps you may have installed on your phone.

Uninstalling the Facebook App may significantly help extend your phone’s battery life. Android users can see up to a 20 percent difference while iPhone users could see up to a 15 percent difference.

Though this might be a disappointment to some, Facebook is still accessible through your browser. Even then you can still message, update your status and receive notifications.

Facebook has been criticized in the past due to the app finding ways to still keep running in the background which sucks battery life but according to one of the app developers, that issue was resolved in October.

The overall use of Facebook through your browser is extremely simple and while some may find it tedious to spend some extra seconds using it through your internet browser, it may convenience you to save that extra battery life, especially if an emergency situation were to arrise. Here are some quick simple steps to pick and choose what you’d like to see in your notifications via your web browser only if you decide to uninstall the app:

  1. Open your web browser
  2. Go to Facebook.com (Log in if you haven’t)
  3. Tap the “Menu” at the top right side. (It should be three horizontal bars in a row)
  4. Scroll down to “Account Settings”
  5. Tap “Notifications”
  6.  Tap “Mobile”
  7. Tap “Turn On” (should be a blue button)

From then on you can pick and choose which options you’d like to receive a notification from through your phone’s web brower (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.)
