It was announced by press release that on October 15, the landmark sign on 309 South Broad Street, between City Hall and South Street, would be lowered for good. The building that the sign was long attached to, will soon be demolished, containing the studio home to Gamble & Huff.

The label and studios’ home since 1970, this is where Patti Labelle, Michael Jackson, Lou Rawls and others recorded. In 2010, the building was damaged by fire later accused to be arson. After its demolition, the landmark will reportedly transform into a 47-story luxury hotel and condominium complex.
