NYPD Has Done It Again: NYPD Drag Naked Black Woman From Apartment, Leave Her Passed Out On The Floor

Denise Stewart, a Brooklyn grandmother, was dragged out of her Brownsville apartment moments after she hopped out of the shower by about 12 cops, and was held outside for nearly 2 minutes with the NYPD standing over her. According witnesses, police approached the woman’s apartment on the evening of July 13th, in response to a domestic violence dispute.

The 48-yr-old opened the door slightly wearing a towel around her body and underpants, and was then yanked out of her apartment by the NYPD. Family and friends began to scream in defense. The disturbing video shows about a dozen male officers forcefully making their way into Stewart’s apartment, while other officers struggle to captivate the woman and handcuff her. During the messy dispute, the woman’s towel fell off her body, leaving her nearly naked in the hallway.

The mother of four can be heard screaming for oxygen as she was held against the wall. Stewart, who suffers from severe asthma, fainted and fell to the floor. Neighbors proceeded to call the cops “wicked” for the unnecessary force. Afterwards, the woman was left in the hallway for about 2 minutes, as additional NYPD officers walked up the stairs and glanced at her when passing by.

According to the Daily News, Stewart states:

It’s disgusting and embarrassing. I’ve been married 16 years. It took my husband 10 years to see my nakedness. I didn’t do nothing wrong.

Apparently when the NYPD received the 911 phone call, an apartment number was not given. Police proceeded to knock on Stewart’s door after hearing shouts coming from her apartment. Stewart’s 12-yr old daughter had visible injuries on her face. She told officers her mother and sister beat her with a belt. Stewart’s lawyer, Amy Rameau says:

They manhandled (Stewart) and behaved in a deplorable manner. She feels completely mortified. This is about human dignity.

After the incident, Stewart was charged with assaulting a police officer and she and her daughter Diamond Stewart, 20, were both charged with resisting arrest, acting in a manner injurious to a child, and criminal possession of a weapon. The incident is currently being investigated by internal affairs.
