The NYPD continues to target minorities over white New Yorkers for marijuana arrests, a police-reform advocacy group said Thursday.

Robert Gangi, the director of the Police Reform Organizing Project, said 93% of the nearly 4,100 pot possession busts made in the first three months of 2018 involved people of color, citing state statistics.

“The facts are undeniable. The NYPD engages in starkly racially biased practices,” Gangi said. “This (is) despite research and experience demonstrating that white people use and sell marijuana in proportions and numbers equal to or greater than African-Americans and Latinos.”

Lt. John Grimpel, an NYPD spokesman, did not comment on Gangi’s recent findings, but instead referred to statements made in February by now Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.

Shea said cops were making arrests in areas with a lot of 911 and 311 calls about public pot smoking.
