Now We’ve Seen It All: Eyebrow Wigs, The Next Big Thing!!!

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all when it comes to the falsified world of beauty, think again! With the trending of #eyebrowsonfleek everywhere it’s no wonder that eyebrow wigs have been created and are on the rise. I must say, the one thing I can’t leave the house without doing is fixing up my brows, so ladies who opt for this less temporary fix, I understand!

Andrew DiSimone, owner of HairPlace NYC, has specialized in hair replacement systems for the last 15 years. Last year he started offering eyebrow wigs. “It’s just a miniature version of what we were doing with wigs,” he claims. Whether it be for a perfect arch, thicker brow or just pure laziness, these brow extensions are sure to wow you. The application and brow extension set costs about $95 and is guaranteed to last 4-6 months. Yes, you read that right!

Not only is that a steal, it may make you put that brow gel down once and for all! No more filling in those brows ladies on the daily. The salon offers three different arches in four hair color shades each (a total of 12 options). Each individual human hair is injected into a clear, skin-like polymer base. The base is a mix of polyurethane and silicone (and feels a lot like a thin layer of rubber).

What’s so great about these wigs are that you can also easily apply them yourself. With a bit of patience and practice you will be all set. According to DiSimone, here are the application steps:

  1. Exfoliate the skin to remove any dead skin and oils from the surface.
  2. Apply glue directly on the back of the wig.
  3. Let it dry for a few seconds.
  4. Use an eyeliner pencil to mark off where you want to apply the brows.
  5. Place wig over your natural brow and apply pressure.
  6. Smooth brow wig down, removing any bubbles.

These brows can be worn everyday without worry. Even facial cleansing is a breeze. It is simply recommended that acid peels and oil-based cleansers/moisturizers be avoided since they weaken the adhesive.
