Just as Cinderella gets ready to make its Broadway debut with the first Black fairy tale princess, Miss Keke Palmer, already casting changes are being announced. We’d already reported Keke’s feat and then announced that Sherri Shepherd had snagged the role of Cinderella’s evil stepmother out from under Nene Leakes’ feet, but now it appears the two will be sharing the spotlight.
According to Broadway.com, while Sherri Shepherd will perform the role of Madame September 9 through November 22, she will be succeeded by Nene Leakes who has now been added to the final cast. Each star will play the role for about two months, with Nene taking over the part from the end of November until the final show on January 3, 2015.
There’s no word on why Sherri isn’t performing for the entire show run, but it will certainly be interesting to see which of these ladies wins over audiences. How do you think Nene will do?
