DeJ Loaf ain’t no joke. On Wednesday (Apr. 6), the Detroit spitter unleashed her new mixtape, All Jokes Aside, appearing naked on its cover.
The 11-track set boasts production by Sonny Digital, Izze the Producer, KLVN, DDS, and iRocksays. Silkk the Shocker is the project’s lone guest, appearing on “Bout That.”
“There comes a time in a girl’s life, where she becomes a young woman,” said DeJ. “It’s called growth, it’s called maturity, it’s called living life to the full potential and being true to who you are. That’s what I represent. I feel good about everything that I am doing right now, because it is what I want to do. Not what anyone else wants me to do; it’s what I want to do. I’m in charge. I run my show. It feels damn good.”
Prior to unleashing All Jokes Aside, the Detroit rapper released a teaser for the tape. It turns out that preview was a look into the mixtape’s intro “Vibes,” in which she talks about taking care of business.
The MC, who was rumored to be dating Lil Durk, also reintroduces herself to fans on “Who Am I,” the effort’s second track. In it, she talks about the D and declares that she’s “single.”
All Jokes Aside is the follow-up to July’s EP #AndSeeThatsTheThing.
