Mother Was Told By DC Police Her Son Was Dead On Christmas Day Receives An Apology For the Mistake…WOW!!

Oops!

A Washington, D.C. mother got a Christmas scare and gift all within the span of a couple of hours. Karen Robinson said Washington police told her about 2 a.m. Christmas Day that her son died in a shoot-out with police following a robbery.

She told them they must have the wrong house. She even showed them  picture of her son.

“I’m like no, that’s not my child,” she told 4 NBC Washington.

She was right. Hours later her son, Raymond, called to wish Robinson a Merry Christmas.

“He says, ‘Merry Christmas, mom,’ and I said, ‘Who is this?”’ said Karen Robinson. “He said, ‘Mom, this is Raymond.’ I said, ‘Boy, they said you died.”

The coroner even called and asked Robinson to identify the body in the morgue, but she said it wasn’t necessary, 4NBC Washington reported. Police later identified the dead man as Gregory Marcus Gray.

Monday, four days after the initial mistake, a detective came to Robinson’s home again – to apologize.

Police say proper procedures were not followed in identifying the deceased. The Associated Press reported that authorities failed to wait for fingerprint confirmation after receiving a tip about the identity at the hospital. Police say, the person responsible for the mistake will be disciplined.

“I think they should make a positive ID on a person before they come because anything could have happened,” Karen Robinson told 4NBC Washington. “I could have had a heart attack right here on this floor.”
