Man Kills Woman & Her Daughter After Moving In Her Home Because He Said Her Daughter Had An Attitude

A man who recently moved in with a Florida woman and her 11-year-old daughter after a stint behind bars is accused of killing them both because of the girl’s “bad attitude,” police records show.

Marlin Larice Joseph, 26, had argued Thursday with Kaladaa Crowell, 36, about the way Kyra Inglett, 11, was “getting along with the other children who lived in the home,” according to a West Palm Beach police report obtained by the Palm Beach Post.

Joseph said the fifth-grader “had a bad attitude” before police say he shot and killed Crowell and Inglett at about 7 p.m. before fleeing the scene in Crowell’s car. Crowell died at the scene, while her daughter was still alive when authorities responded to the home.

She was rushed to a local hospital, but could not be saved, according to the newspaper.

Joseph was arrested Tuesday after four days on the run. He was taken into custody by the US Marshals Service after being located at an apartment complex in Lake Worth, WPTV reports.

“With the grace of God, they caught the person who did it,” Patrick James, Crowell’s great uncle, told the station, adding that he was unsure why Joseph allegedly killed the women.

Joseph had moved in with Crowell 10 months ago after serving time behind bars for battery on a child, WPTV reports.

Joseph’s mother, Robin Denson, said she had been dating Crowell and considered the 11-year-old girl as her stepdaughter. Denson was outside the home when Joseph allegedly killed Crowell and Inglett, she said.

“Kaladaa was the sweetest person,” Denson told the Palm Beach Post. “She’d give the shirt off her back to help anybody … She was my girlfriend and that was our home. I love my son, but I loved Kyra and Kaladaa, too.”

Joseph, who is facing two first-degree murder charges, was denied bond by a judge during a court appearance early Wednesday, CBS 12 reports. A vigil is being held at a church in Palm Beach Gardens early Wednesday in memory of Crowell and Inglett, according to the station.
