Local Kids Strut Their Stuff In Charity Fashion Show Benefitting Juvenile Diabetes

Anything involving children that is positive can and will always get my full attention.  EarHustle411 had the pleasure of covering  an event that I would say was one of the best event we had covered this year thus far.  To see a bunch of children walking the runway and performing like professionals was nothing short of “FANTABULOUS!!”

This event was spearheaded by an awesome, beautiful and very talented woman.  Cassandra Bell who is the CEO/Owner of Cassandra Bell Studios.  She has been working with children for many years in her day-to-day professional job as well as in her side job, where she produces shows and I have to tell you she is very skilled in what she does with the kids.

Last month Cassandra Bell Studios held a fashion show where the focus was on Juvenile Diabetes.  It was called the Children’s Art, Music Fashion Show put on by the Save Me 2 Live Foundation (also founded by Cassandra Bell) and the primary function of the foundation is to support children who suffer from diabetes.

Cassandra who also is currently living with diabetes, has a genuine and profound love for children and she has the most empathetic spirit and her compassion for them definitely shows through her extravagant yet captivating productions.  Her tagline for her company is “I do drama, But I don’t do drama” and from what I experienced on July 19, 2014 was a performance by kids who took great pride in what they were doing and they were so excited by all of the applause and love they received from the audience.  The only “drama”  that night was on the stage and the children brought the house down with their sassy talents.

Prior to the show beginning, the audience members were dazzled music provided by DJ Slugo of Blok Club DJs, Inc. and words cannot even express the grand time they were having when he took them on a trip in the “wayback” machine.  There was one couple who “chair danced” for the longest time until the DJ played some classic “House” music and the spirit of the “Godfather of House”, Frankie Knuckles (who subsequently passed in March from complications of Diabetes) was all they needed to get their “groove”on.

This production was very classy, action packed but also very informative.  Diabetes is one of the medical conditions that is one of those preventable illnesses.  There is so much information available about it and our children are affected in great numbers.  Cassandra shared her experience as a diabetic and advised the audience that taking care of our health is very important.  Our children need to get up and get out because exercise and eating right is key to preventing this condition from affecting more children.

As exciting as the show was, nothing was more exciting than speaking with the children after the show.  They were so passionate about their talents and doing something for a good cause but they also were very vocal when asked about the violence that plagues Chicago.  These young, talented and bright children displayed more concern and conviction about the violence than anyone I’ve come across.

One thing I can say this show served it’s purpose and EarHustle411 was glad we were called upon to participate.  If the next production to be showcased by Cassandra Bell Studios is anything like this one, we will most certainly be in the midst.
