It is with a very heavy heart that the EarHustle411 Team share that one of Chicago’s most notable and soulful voices has now gone silent. We are saddened to report that the ChiTown songbird Johnny P and Mr “Do you wanna ride, in the backseat of a Caddy and chop it up wit’ Do or Die” from the hit song ‘Po Pimpin’ (we see you singing).
Johnny P born and raised in Chicago started his musical journey as a young child and prior to him collaborating with Do or Die, he has already established himself as an accomplished artist. After having been the object of a bidding war with record labels, Johnny P was signed to a multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records. Johnny P was one the most sought after artist to collaborate with and he was certainly the “pride of Chicago” and he was an impeccable talent as well as a humble individual.
EarHustle411 had the opportunity to speak with one of Johnny P’s good friends, Thomas ‘DJ Slugo’ Kendricks and he stated :
“Johnny P was and is my good friend and we have went through some good and bad times together. I’m saddened by his death but I do celebrate our friendship and his life. We have to keep in mind that when people are going through their own personal trials and tribulations, we should not throw them under a bus and forget about them or smile in their face and talk about them behind their backs and when they pass away start crying Rest In Peace and all that. We as a people have to do better by each other even through our differences and disagreements.”
Regardless of the struggles Johnny P may have had, one thing is for sure and two things are for certain, he was our homegrown superstar and nothing can change that. EarHustle411 and the writing staff sends our sincerest condolences to the family, friends and fans of Johnny P. We pray for their strength during this time of bereavement.
