According to the Chicago Tribune, two people were shot and a man is in custody after a domestic-related shooting in the parking lot of the Harlem Irving Plaza in Norridge, police said Thursday.
The incident began in Chicago shortly after 1 p.m. and ended up in the parking lot outside of the mall, at 4104 N. Harlem Ave., said Norridge Police Chief Jim Jobe, who was quoted in a Tribune story.
A male and female were shot and another man is in custody, Jobe said.
Both victims were taken to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge. They both remain in fair condition, a hospital spokesperson said.
According to a mall spokesperson the incident was confined to the outside of the mall and the incident never spread inside the mall.
The mall and its parking lots remain open as police continue to investigate the incident, the spokesman said.
Additionally, mall officials said as far as they know, this is the first time a shooting has occurred at the mall.
