Hot Mix 5’s 35th Anniversary Festival Gets Summer Off To A HOT Start

Chicago has always been the place where great things have been created and this town has “birthed” many a celebrities.  Entertainment is one of the areas where this town has continued success and with music being a universal language by which people can communicate, some of Chicago’s talented citizens has contributed greatly to that language.  On Saturday June 11, 2016, the EarHustle411 crew witnessed history take place at McCormick Place.  12 hours, 6 rooms, 30 performances, 60 DJs and HOUSE MUSIC all day long.

Back in the day at a time in Chicago on WBMX-FM and a time when music lovers would rush home from where ever they were to get to their radio just so they could record the HOT MIX 5 doing their thing on the radio.  Well here we are 35 years later and the HOT MIX 5 are still doing their thing with their music and taking people for a ride in the “wayback” machine.  Tony Rosales, promoter and a long time friend of the Hot Mix 5, had a vision and a plan to put together an event that would be the “mother” of events that would make history.

The Hot Mix 5 35th Anniversary Festival, set the tone for and the bar very high for this summer’s events.  Scott ‘Smokin’ Sils, Mickey Mixin’ Oliver, Ralphie ‘The Razz’ Rosario, Kenny Jammin’ Jason and the King of House Farley ‘Jackmaster Funk’ each respectfully killed it in their rooms at the venue.  This festival opened the doors for many of Chicago’s local talent to come out and showcase their skills whether as a DJ, dancer, or artist.  Fans of the HOT MIX 5 came out in droves in support of the team who brought us the best of the best in House Music.  Singer Byron Stingley sang his heart out and whipped out tunes like Devotion, Mighty Real and EarHustle411 favorite Get Up Everybody.  Househead dancer David Risque donned his authentic Indian headgear and showed the crowd how to really get it in to the tunes of house music.

Although it was a very long day everyone had an awesome time and of course every househead looks forward to the next big house event and EarHustle411 will be keeping our ears to the streets for the fans!!

KUDOS to Tony Rosales for a job well done in the event, the EarHustle411 team salutes him and we say HAPPY 35th ANNIVERSARY to the HOT MIX 5.
