Today EarHustle411 and the world celebrates the birthday of a woman who has been Black America’s Favorite TV Mom. Phylicia Rashad turns 67 years young today and she is still going strong. It is only befitting that we celebrate with Phylicia, not only because she deserves to be celebrated but she shares her special day with a day in Black History known as Juneteenth the day slavery was abolished.
Born Phylicia Ayers-Allen on this day June 19, 1948, a beautiful baby girl was born to Pulitzer-prize nominated artist, poet, playwright, scholar, and publisher Vivian Ayers and the late Andrew Arthur Allen an established Orthodontist. Phylicia who is fluent in Spanish was reared in Mexico, received her higher education credentials from Howard University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Phylicia during her time at historic Howard University also became a member of the Black Greek Letter Organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated through the organization’s Alpha Chapter.
Phylicia has always been very classy in all that she does whether on TV, stage or film. She has numerous awards to her credit including being the first African-American actress to win a Tony Award for Best Actress.
Phylicia is most notable for her role on The Cosby Show as the attorney Claire Huxtable and she warmed all the hearts of black and white America alike.
